Group of 25 youth (12 males and 13 females) from Tatarstan Selet Youth group arrived in Adelaide on 3rd January 2013. The group leaders were Miss Alina Sadrieva, Miss. Venera Galimova, Mrs. Razina Safina and Mr. Insaf Galiullin. The group stayed in Adelaide between 3rd and 15th January 2013. During their 12 days visit Tatar youths both from Tatarstan and Adelaide got to gather every day and undertake joint programs including organising welcoming and farewell concerts with traditional Tatar singing, dancing performances; Tatar girls Gobadiya cooking classes, Tatar traditional games like "Aulak Oi", singing and other activities. Joint excursion to Gorge Wildlife Park with native Australian animals like kangaroos and koalas, trip to Victor Harbor and Granite Island and the Dolphin cruise at Glenelg were especially successful events. The Tatar youth also found time for swimming, surfing and sightseeing in Adelaide. The visit by the Tatarstan Selet Youth Group was very successful and both Australian and Tatarstan`s Tatar youth enjoyed each other companionship and formed close friendship which we hope will continue in the future.
Obviously success of any events would not have been possible without the support and contributions of the members of Tatar community. In particular we wish to express our special thanks and acknowledged their fantastic contribution for Selet Youth Group to the following individuals:
